Thank You Letter from Sam and Ellen Green

The Golden Triangle Democratic Club's Inaugural Ball on the evening of January 20 was a resounding success. We would like to thank all those that made it possible.

The historic Lakeside Inn provided a beautiful setting for our celebration of the Inauguration of Barack Obama. Betty Schou, Sales and Catering Manager, worked with us every step of the way to make our event go smoothly. As the ticket sales grew, she changed the floor plan according to our needs and made many useful suggestions. She made sure that she had plenty of friendly, efficient staff on hand so no one had to wait long for their delicious dinners.

MarkZ and Jeff Whitfield played and sang for us for over three hours and included some songs especially for the occasion. They were so excited by the election, that they gave us a very good deal and celebrated with us. The dance floor was full after dinner. Although we have been listening to Mark and Jeff for many years, for others it was their first time hearing these talented guitarists and singers, and they received many compliments. (They will be playing at the new Ruby Street Grill in Tavares on Wednesday evenings, in case you'd like an encore.)

One of our own, Sonya Watson, of the Frolicking Femme, put forth outstanding effort to make our inaugural ball the great success it was. She created the beautiful red, white, and blue table decorations and the bookmarks we hope you are still enjoying. Sonya is a very talented decorator, but she also spent a lot of time ordering the materials and putting them together so beautifully. Not only that, she donated hand-decorated wine glasses for our raffle and got her local friends with businesses to donate items also. Thank you to those people and companies that donated items for our raffle: Elizabeth Scholl, Executive Director of the Bay Street Theatre; Darlin Barry, Artistic Director, Ice House Theatre; Wayne Bailey and Jon Veneziano, investment bankers at Bank of America; Jerome Brouhard of The Cellar at Maggie's Attic; Dawn Mader, Lindy Colvin, and Sonya Watson of The Frolicking Femme; Whispering Winds, Stephan and Lisa Mirizio of Synergy Salon and Spa; Judy Ransanici of One Flight Name; Evie Waterhouse, Janet Manchon, Connie Albright, Mary Flanagan LMT, Jane Trimble LMT, Janet Coffman, and Dave and Sue Jantz.

Many thanks to our GTDC members who took the time to help and participate in the success of this event, especially our volunteer coordinator, Connie Albright, Bill and Doris Boyer, Ron and Deanna Boddicker, Dave and Sue Jantz, Ella and Henry Paets, and Mary Flanagan.

We appreciate the toasts made by Mary Flanagan, Bill Ferree, Mary Sharpe, Alan Garcia, Jet Netwall, and Janet Manchon, who also led the Obama Beautiful Evening song. Thanks to Kim Keyser for singing the national anthem and to all those who joined in to make it a memorable and moving moment. Above all, thanks to all of you who came to dine, dance, sing, and celebrate the momentous occasion of the inauguration of Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States.

   Hope and Peace,

   Ellen and Sam Green
